FIVE MINUTE MAJOR Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Top 10 rankings, a check in on the standings and more.

It’s a new week in major junior hockey and with come the regular Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Top 10 rankings, a check in on the standings and more.
As far as the CHL Top 10 rankings go, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) lead the way with four of their teams in the rankings. The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) checked in with three. The Western Hockey League (WHL) saw three of their teams crack the top 10.
The OHL saw the Brampton Steelheads check in at two, London Knights at six, Niagara IceDogs at eight and Windsor Spitfires at nine.
The QMJHL saw the Moncton Wildcats at one, the Rimouski Oceanic at four and the Drummondville Voltigeurs at seven. Moncton slid into the top spot after winning four consecutive games.
In the WHL, the Prince George Cougars checked in at three, Medicine Hat Tigers at five and the Everett Silvertips at 10. This is Everett’s debut in the rankings this season. In addition to their spot in the CHL Top 10 rankings, the Medicine Hat Tigers made news with the WHL Goaltender of the Week honors. Tigers’ goalie and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Harrison Meneghin received the honor after his stellar performance over the past week. He picked up his first two victories as a member of the Tigers as he posted a .50 goals-against average, a .978 save percentage and a shutout.

Medicine Hat will also have two representatives on Team Canada at the U17 World Challenge with Liam and Markus Ruck both playing for Team Canada White.
The WHL’s Eastern Conference also made the headlines with the WHL Rookie of the Week honors as Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender Josh Banini received the honors. He grabbed his first WHL victory in his first start for the Warriors. Banini put up a monster performance against the Everett Silvertips as he posted a .967 save percentage on Friday, Oct. 11.
Over in the WHL’s Western Conference, Vancouver Giants’ captain Mazden Leslie received the honor of WHL Player of the Week after his stellar play recently. He led his team with a goal, five assists and a +1 rating through three road games. Vancouver’s Ryan Lin and Brett Olson are two of the 15 players representing the WHL at the U17 World Challenge.
The WHL will see 11 other players also participating in the U17 World Challenge in addition to the Rucks, Lin and Olson. That list includes two representatives from the Prince Albert Raiders in Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk. Brandon will also see two representatives take part with Jaxon Jacobson and Giorgos Pantelas representing the Wheat Kings. The Spokane Chiefs will see two representatives in Mathis Preston and Carter Esler. Keaton Verhoeff will represent the Victoria Royals while Carson Carels will represent another BC Division team, the Prince George Cougars. Remaining in the Western Conference, Cruz Pavao will represent the Tri-City Americans while Landon DuPont will represent the Everett Silvertips. Over in the Eastern Conference, Joe Iginla will represent the Edmonton Oil Kings.
