TIME FOR AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT? Kid is cocky and a bit of a poison in the locker room. Does it his own way regardless what the coach says.

Kid is cocky and a bit of a poison in the locker room. He is a coach killer. Does it his own way regardless what the coach says. Lights the lamp 50 times a season but has a plus/minus rating of -54. Why did they trade that kid, he’s a pure goal scorer?
He’s also a pile of crap to deal with and that’s why he was traded to Red Lake.
Supporters and fans will often question mid-season trades of top performing players. In most cases, the traded player showed the signs of being a problem long before the first puck dropped.
Coaches often make the mistake of overlooking the signs, even when they are right in front of their face.
Year in and year out, we hear about the attitude of players. Many prospects at the junior level of play have a difficult time with the concept of consequences for their actions and statements, on and off the ice.
Attitude problems have a way of becoming a cancer within any team so it’s very important that coaches overlook the talent instead of the mouth.
Players have to buy-in to what the coach is trying to do. Right or wrong, he’s the guy calling the shots.

Now let’s see what the coaches have to say.
How big of an impact can a player’s attitude have on the selection process?
Very huge for me. Character is everything in choosing players and attitude is a clear indicator of what that player will do and whether he will buy in or not. NAHL Coach.
It has a lot of do. Player’s attitude is extremely important. Players have to be able to accept criticisms and be willing to learn. If they have a bad attitude each time you try to correct them, it will reflect negatively for that player and the rest of the team. Players with a great attitude grow so much faster and are way more coachable. Current USPHL Owner
I believe attitude is a huge part of the decision making process for selecting players. A player’s attitude and how it affects other members on the team is important as well. Players should know that their attitude is considered in every step in the process of getting to the next level and if positive it can be the difference maker for them making a team or not. NAHL Coach
