The early weeks of the North American Hockey League regular season are providing plenty of clarity as divisional matchups take center stage. While the heavyweights in the South Division continue to beat each other up, a new leader has quietly emerged in the Midwest. As the season progresses, these are the top fifteen teams in the league, with rankings determined strictly by winning percentage, goal differential, and current momentum.
1. Fairbanks Ice Dogs (11 GP, 9-1-0-1)
Taking over the top spot in the power rankings with an elite .8636 points percentage, Fairbanks continues to dictate the pace of the Midwest Division. While the South Division teams battle for supremacy, the Ice Dogs quietly rolled to a 4-1 victory over Wisconsin on Friday, powered by a stellar performance from Oliver Barna, who logged a goal and an assist. Goaltender Izaak Kalis shut the door with 17 saves, proving that Fairbanks has the defensive backbone to support their high-flying offense, which boasts a league-leading +32 goal differential.
2. Minot Minotauros (13 GP, 11-2-0-0)
Minot stays red-hot and leaps into the second spot after sweeping the Austin Bruins in a tight weekend series. Lucca Ori played hero on Friday with the game-winning goal in a 2-1 contest, while Mackley Morelli netted the decider in Saturday's 3-2 victory. With 22 points and an impressive four-game winning streak, the Minotauros are finding ways to win the close, gritty battles that define the Central Division.
3. Shreveport Mudbugs (16 GP, 13-2-1-0)
The Mudbugs remain an absolute powerhouse. In a highly anticipated South Division showdown against Lone Star, Shreveport dropped Friday's contest 6-2 but showed incredible resilience to bounce back and secure a 4-2 victory on Saturday night. They then capped off a grueling three-in-three weekend by taking down Odessa 3-2 on Sunday, led by Antoine Cormier netting two goals and an assist. They still boast a league-leading 27 points and a massive +28 goal differential.
4. Lone Star Brahmas (13 GP, 10-2-0-1)
The Brahmas split their massive weekend series against Shreveport. They made a huge statement with a 6-2 Friday night victory driven by two-goal performances from Hugo Zetterlund and Sam Black before falling 4-2 on Saturday. With a stifling defense that has allowed just 28 goals all season, Lone Star continues to climb the South Division ranks and prove they are a nightmare matchup for any team.
5. Bismarck Bobcats (13 GP, 10-3-0-0)
Bismarck bounced back to split a tough Central Division series against St. Cloud. After dropping Friday's contest 2-1 to a late power-play goal, the Bobcats rallied on Saturday for a commanding 4-1 victory backed by Brenden Espenell's sixth goal of the season. With 20 points in the bank and a +26 goal differential, they remain a top contender.
6. Northeast Generals (13 GP, 9-2-0-2)
Northeast continues to pile up points after securing a 3-2 regulation victory over New Hampshire on Wednesday. Logan Poulin secured the game-winner late in the third period, capitalizing on the Generals' relentless offensive pressure. Leading the league with 51 goals scored, their attack is an absolute wagon that few teams can contain for a full sixty minutes.
7. Maryland Black Bears (15 GP, 11-3-1-0)
Maryland erased a third-period deficit to rally past New Hampshire 3-2 on Friday. Ajay Rai delivered the game-winner with just three minutes remaining, while goaltender Cole Werthman stood tall with 27 saves. The Black Bears possess the championship pedigree to grind out difficult road wins and continue to set the pace in the East Division.
8. Odessa Jackalopes (12 GP, 9-3-0-0)
Odessa drops down the rankings after a grueling weekend. The Jackalopes suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat to Oklahoma on Friday despite a furious comeback attempt, but they quickly righted the ship to secure a 5-3 victory on Saturday. A tight 3-2 loss to Shreveport on Sunday highlights just how unforgiving the South Division can be. Still, their explosive offense ensures they are never truly out of a game.
9. Anchorage Wolverines (13 GP, 9-3-0-1)
Anchorage extends their winning streak to four games following a decisive 5-2 victory over Kenai River. Jason Bourdoukofsky led the charge with a pair of goals, while the Wolverines' special teams unit converted twice on the power play. Thriving under pressure and generating a high volume of scoring chances makes Anchorage a dangerous out on any given night.
10. Corpus Christi IceRays (13 GP, 9-4-0-0)
The IceRays are rolling after sweeping the Houston Bulls to climb the standings. Corpus Christi cruised to a 5-1 win on Friday before Oliver Czaja secured a thrilling 4-3 victory with a late game-winner on Saturday. Sitting on an impressive +7 goal differential, they are proving they have the depth to compete in the grueling South Division.
11. New Jersey Titans (15 GP, 8-3-2-2)
New Jersey secured a point in a tight 3-2 shootout loss to Danbury on Friday. Despite giving up a late third-period equalizer, the Titans continue to play incredibly structured hockey in the East Division. Eliminating defensive zone turnovers and capitalizing on their power-play opportunities will be critical for returning to the win column.
12. Aberdeen Wings (12 GP, 8-4-0-0)
Aberdeen displayed incredible resilience by rallying from a two-goal deficit to defeat Watertown 3-2 on Saturday. David Hruby played hero, burying the equalizer late in the second period before netting the game-winner just 21 seconds into the third. Generating offense in high-pressure situations keeps the Wings firmly in the Central Division hunt.
13. Minnesota Wilderness (14 GP, 9-5-0-0)
The Wilderness put together a flawless weekend by sweeping Springfield, capped by a dominant 4-0 shutout on Saturday. Jackson Knight opened the scoring, while their defensive core completely neutralized the Jr. Blues attack. With 65 goals scored on the season, Minnesota balances a terrifying offense with a suddenly locked-down defensive structure.
14. Janesville Jets (14 GP, 9-5-0-0)
Janesville extends their winning streak to three games after sweeping the Minnesota Mallards. Grant Dillard stole the show on Friday with a dramatic hat trick in a 4-3 victory, while Brendan Russell buried two goals in Saturday's 5-0 shutout. The Jets are officially finding their rhythm and look like a serious threat in the Midwest Division.
15. Billings Cattle Punchers (14 GP, 8-4-2-0)
The expansion Cattle Punchers continue to battle through adversity, splitting an intense weekend series with Ogden. After rallying for a wild 6-5 shootout victory on Friday courtesy of Ondrej Husak, they fell in a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime decision on Saturday. Billings plays a heavy, physical game and refuses to back down against established franchises.
