Owen Fitzgerald made a strong first impression in his BCHL debut, scoring a league-high four goals and adding an assist over two games to help lead the Cowichan Valley Capitals to back-to-back shutout wins.

The 18-year-old forward from Ennismore, Ontario opened the weekend with a standout performance in Cowichan’s 8-0 road victory over the Surrey Eagles on Friday night. Fitzgerald scored twice and recorded one assist, contributing to the Capitals’ offensive outburst. His first BCHL goal came in the second period, followed by a power-play assist and a second even-strength goal in the third.

On Saturday, Fitzgerald delivered another two-goal effort in a 3-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs. He opened the scoring midway through the second period and added an empty-net goal in the final minutes to secure the victory. With both goals coming in key moments, Fitzgerald demonstrated composure and reliability in tight situations.

Through two games, Fitzgerald totaled five points and led all BCHL players in goals and points over the weekend. His scoring came in a variety of situations, including even strength, special teams, and late-game scenarios, underlining his versatility and offensive instincts.

A product of Ontario’s minor and prep hockey system, Fitzgerald quickly adjusted to the BCHL’s pace and physicality. His early contributions have given the Capitals a strong start to the season and added depth to the team’s forward group.
