With his birthday just days away, Austin Borggaard gave himself an early celebration by earning the HockeyWolf Player of the Week title after a dominant weekend for the Maine Nordiques. The 6 foot forward from Worcester, Massachusetts delivered back to back three point performances, playing a central role in Maine’s sweep of the New Jersey Titans.
Borggaard set the tone on Friday night with his second two goal game of the season. The Sacred Heart commit opened the scoring by slipping a shot five hole early in the second period, then added an assist on Hutchison Rose’s goal late in the game. He capped off the night in dramatic fashion, scoring a buzzer beater in the final second to complete a three point outing and help the Nordiques secure a 4–1 victory. The ’05 forward factored into three of Maine’s four goals in the win.
Saturday’s rematch turned into a high scoring affair, and Borggaard was once again at the center of the action. He first set up Henry Butte’s power play goal in the second period by driving the puck over the blue line. Later in the third, Borggaard showcased his speed by finding the back of the net himself at the 15:58 mark. As the Titans mounted a late push, the game headed to overtime, where Borggaard once again made the difference using his skating to gain the zone and setting up Damon Myer for the overtime game winner. It marked his second consecutive three point night and sealed the weekend sweep.

Over the two-game series, Borggaard totaled six points with three goals and three assists, making it his most productive weekend of the season. He now leads the Nordiques with 15 goals and 32 points. The first year forward was Maine’s first selection in the 2025 NAHL Entry Draft, taken in the second round, 59th overall.
Head coach Nick Skerlick highlighted why Borggaard has been such an important piece for Maine this season:
“Austin is offensively pushing the pace, his skating is second to none on the ice, and his ability to get to the net is at the top with the other divisions’ leaders. We are excited to see him become more defensively responsible as we get into the second half before he heads to an NCAA Division I level program."
A high-impact weekend and consistent offensive pressure make Austin Borggaard a deserving HockeyWolf’s Player of the Week.
