Kamloops Blazers forward JP Hurlbert has been named the HockeyWolf Player of the Week after a standout three-game stretch where the 17-year-old put up six points (4G–2A) and continued his breakout season.
Hurlbert opened his week with a two-goal performance in a 5–4 overtime win at Tri-City, scoring just 47 seconds into the game and adding another minutes later. On Friday, he shifted into playmaker mode, assisting on goals by Oilers prospect Tommy Lafreniere and Blackhawks prospect Nathen Behm. He wrapped up the week with another two-goal outing against Wenatchee, scoring both the opener and the late insurance marker in a 4–2 victory.
With 44 points (18G–26A) in 25 games, Hurlbert leads the WHL in scoring and is tied for the league lead in goals. The Allen, Texas native — rated an “A” prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft — continues to solidify himself as one of the most impactful rookies in the league.
Hurlbert now heads to Alberta to represent Team CHL at the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge.
