Victorious Player Spotlight: Brody Haas
Brody Haas named this week’s Victorious Player Spotlight
Some players take longer to find their role. Others stay ready for the moment their opportunity arrives. Brody Haas is a perfect example of what can happen when work ethic, versatility, and persistence meet the right situation. His jump this season hasn’t been accidental, it’s been earned.
A Foundation Built on Versatility
Last season, Brody played for the Wenatchee Wild 18U AAA program, filling multiple roles and doing whatever his team needed. Splitting time as both a forward and a defenseman, he focused on reliability and team-first play.
"Last season I played for the Wenatchee wild 18u AAA team, I had 2 goals, 11 assist for 13 points in 50 games playing as both a forward and a defenseman."
That adaptability laid the groundwork for what would come next.
A Breakout Junior Season
This year, Brody has taken a major step forward with the Louisiana Drillers, settling into a forward role and finding immediate offensive success.
"This season I am playing for the Louisiana Drillers where I have 18 goals, 21 assists for 39 points in 29 games so far, playing as a forward."
The jump in production reflects confidence, opportunity, and a player who’s found his stride.
Milestones That Mark the Growth
Brody’s development hasn’t gone unnoticed. Over the years, he’s earned recognition for both his play and his character.
"As far as milestones, I earned many team awards during my time in Wenatchee including unsung hero, coaches choice, academic player of the year, and made the CSSHL academic team of the season. This year I scored my first junior hat trick and had my first junior fight."
Those moments highlight both sides of his game, the skill, and the grit.
What Sets Him Apart
At the core of Brody’s game is effort and trust, traits that coaches value at every level.
"I’ve always set myself apart by being one of the hardest working guys on every team I’ve been on, as well as being a good teammate and being very coachable. I’ve been very trusted by all my coaches due to this."
That reliability has followed him everywhere he’s played.
Driven in the Classroom
Brody’s academic path mirrors his hockey journey learning from early challenges and responding with effort and accountability.
"Academically I had a 3.2 gpa cumulative in high school. I shot myself in the foot with a poor gpa my freshman year but worked very hard to recover my cumulative as much as I could. I want to study for an allied health degree and then pick a more specific focus from there."
When it comes to college hockey, he’s realistic and intentional about fit and opportunity.
"At the collegiate level I can see myself playing for a D3 school or an ACHA 1/2 program. Mostly depending on scholarship opportunities, degree availability, the school culture, and what school sees my value as a student athlete."
Guidance Helping Him Move Forward
Brody credits much of his opportunity and progression to working with Stephen Heisler, who has helped open doors and guide each step forward.
"Working with Stephen has given me various opportunities to skate with junior teams, make it to camps I otherwise wouldn’t have known about or had the opportunity to play at without him, and he ultimately has gotten me to where I’m at in my hockey career today. He continues working on my behalf and is constantly working on helping me play at the next level."
Looking Ahead
Brody Haas is a player who’s proven he can adapt, improve, and capitalize when opportunity presents itself. With his work ethic, versatility, and growing offensive confidence, he’s built momentum that continues to push him forward on the ice, in the classroom, and toward the next level.
