Logan Carey recognized in this week’s Victorious Player Spotlight
Some defensemen measure success in points. Others measure it in trust, minutes, and reliability. Logan Carey has built his game around being dependable, competitive, and difficult to play against earning responsibility through consistent play and a commitment to doing the little things right.
A Season of Growth and Opportunity
Last season, Logan played for the Connecticut RoughRiders in the EHL, where he logged heavy minutes and focused on developing his defensive game at the junior level. As a defenseman appearing in 49 games, his role was built on reliability and consistency.
"Last season I played for the Connecticut RoughRiders in the EHL, appearing in 49 games and recording 5 points as a defenseman. I earned consistent ice time and focused on being reliable defensively while continuing to develop my game at the junior level."
This season, Logan has taken the next step with the Ironwood Lumberjacks, and his progress has been clear especially as the year has gone on.
"This season I am playing for the Ironwood Lumberjacks, where I’ve started to find my stride, especially in the second half of the season. With strong coaching from Doug Lien, my confidence and decision making have improved, and I’ve recorded 3 points in my last 4 games. I’ve been trusted with a large number of minutes and have been able to impact the game more consistently at both ends of the ice."

What Sets Him Apart
Logan’s strengths are rooted in his skating, attention to detail, and defensive reliability tools that allow him to control pace and handle pressure effectively.
"My biggest intangible is my skating ability, which allows me to play fast, defend effectively, and move the puck north under pressure. I use my legs to create separation and make offensive plays that slower defensemen aren’t able to make. I’m very reliable defensively, take pride in blocking shots, and consistently compete in my own zone. I’m also coachable and detail-oriented, and I’ve learned to lean into my strengths while continuing to develop the offensive side of my game."
Driven in the Classroom
Off the ice, Logan brings the same discipline to his academics. Throughout high school, he challenged himself with advanced coursework while maintaining strong grades.
"Academically, I performed well throughout high school, I had A's in most of my classes as well as taking honors and AP classes. I take my academics seriously and understand the importance of balancing school with hockey. In college, I’m interested in pursuing a degree in Business Management or Economics. I’m looking for a program that allows me to compete at a high level while preparing me for long term success off the ice."
Guidance Making a Difference
Logan credits working with Stephen Heisler as a key factor in navigating the junior hockey landscape and making informed career decisions.
"Working with Stephen Heisler has had a significant impact on my hockey career. He helped create opportunities for me to be seen by teams in multiple different leagues and guided me through the process of evaluating those opportunities. His advice allowed me to make informed decisions when choosing between teams that presented offers or opportunities, ensuring each move aligned with my development goals."
Looking Ahead
With his skating ability, defensive reliability, and growing confidence, Logan Carey is establishing himself as a defenseman coaches can trust in every situation. He’s building a strong foundation through smart decisions, steady development, and a clear vision for both his hockey and academic future and his trajectory continues to point upward.
