Bauer NAHL Power Rankings: The Dirty South is the Rage Evaluating the top fifteen NAHL clubs in late October

The early weeks of the North American Hockey League regular season are providing plenty of clarity as divisional matchups take center stage. Teams are officially establishing their identities and separating themselves from the pack. As the season progresses, these are the top fifteen teams in the league, with rankings determined strictly by winning percentage, goal differential, and current momentum.
1. Odessa Jackalopes (8-1-0-0) Odessa is surging to the top of the standings after securing a dominant weekend sweep over Amarillo. The Jackalopes showcased their explosive offensive depth by burying 16 total goals across the two games. Max Donatelli netted a hat trick on Friday, followed by a matching three goal performance from Danny Kuczkowski on Saturday. Their tight checking defense pairs perfectly with this newfound scoring touch.
2. Shreveport Mudbugs (9-0-1-0) The Mudbugs remain an absolute powerhouse in the South Division after sweeping Corpus Christi. Shreveport opened the weekend with a commanding six goal shutout performance backed by Kristers Plepis between the pipes. They showed excellent resilience the following night by grinding out a comeback victory secured by William-Alexis Tremblay. Opponents are struggling to match their relentless, heavy style of play.
3. Lone Star Brahmas (8-1-0-1) Going the distance to secure a weekend sweep over the Oklahoma Warriors keeps Lone Star near the peak of the rankings. The Brahmas lean on a heavy forecheck and notoriously difficult defensive structure to frustrate opponents. Leo Gabriel stopped all 13 shots he faced on Saturday to record a shutout and lock down a narrow defensive battle. Giving up just 22 goals all season proves their systems are fully dialed in.

4. Fairbanks Ice Dogs (7-1-0-1) Splitting their weekend series against the Kenai River Brown Bears resulted in their first regulation loss of the year on Saturday. Despite the setback, Fairbanks remains a dominant force with a massive plus 22 goal differential. Generating tremendous pressure on special teams, including two shorthanded goals on Friday, makes them built to outlast opponents in tight divisional matchups.
5. Bismarck Bobcats (8-2-0-0) Bouncing back from a minor slump to overwhelm the Austin Bruins shows the resilience of Bismarck. Linus Vieillard secured a shutout on Friday to set the tone for the weekend. Maddox Malmquist provided the overtime heroics on Saturday to complete the sweep and propel his club to a highly competitive position in the Central Division.
6. Minot Minotauros (9-1-0-0) Minot continues to string together victories after sweeping St. Cloud. Lukas Hoglind secured a 23 save shutout on Friday before Volodymyr Naumenko delivered the game winner on Saturday. They refuse to give up easy scoring opportunities and continue to rely on solid special teams play to grind out points night after night.
7. Maryland Black Bears (8-1-1-0) Maryland suffered a tough loss to Northeast on Saturday but remains a massive threat in the East Division. The Black Bears secured a gritty victory on Friday thanks to late game heroics from Will Schlechtweg. An impressive goal differential and structured team defense keep them firmly entrenched among the league leaders.
8. Northeast Generals (6-2-0-2) Securing a crucial victory over Maryland on Saturday keeps Northeast right in the hunt. Leading the league with 48 goals scored proves they are an absolute offensive wagon. Logan Poulin continues to shine as a dynamic forward while Keagin Wilson provides the stability needed between the pipes for their attack to take risks.
9. Anchorage Wolverines (6-3-0-1) Anchorage earned a massive weekend sweep over Wisconsin to rocket up the standings. A potent offensive attack was on full display as the Wolverines scored 10 total goals across the two games. Sheldon Rioux paced the offense with multiple tallies on Saturday. Eliminating defensive lapses will unlock the firepower required to stay in the top ten.
10. New Jersey Titans (6-3-0-1) New Jersey remains a major threat in the East Division despite splitting a weekend series with Elmira. Possessing excellent offensive depth allows them to strike quickly when given open ice in the offensive zone. Eliminating defensive zone turnovers and staying out of the penalty box will be key to returning to their early season dominance.
11. Pueblo Peppers (5-2-3-0) Pueblo bounced back from a narrow loss on Friday to secure a decisive shutout victory over Grand Junction on Saturday. Max Cogler stopped everything thrown his way to record the blanking. They control the middle of the ice completely and receive clutch scoring exactly when they need it most. The Peppers are proving they will not back down from any challenge.
12. Aberdeen Wings (7-3-0-0) Aberdeen split their weekend matchups and continues to play in incredibly high scoring affairs. Thriving in chaotic high pressure scenarios helps them consistently find ways to generate offense. Tightening up their defensive zone coverage will be critical moving forward to avoid dropping crucial points in the Central Division.
13. Corpus Christi IceRays (6-4-0-0) Boasting a deeply talented roster keeps Corpus Christi highly competitive despite a tough weekend sweep against Shreveport. Keeping pace in the grueling South Division is no easy task but they possess the skill to bounce back quickly. They are extremely dangerous on the rush and finish their checks hard.
14. Billings Cattle Punchers (6-3-1-0) The expansion Cattle Punchers suffered a rough weekend after being swept by Idaho Falls. Dropping consecutive games highlights a few defensive struggles that need to be addressed immediately. Billings plays a heavy game and shows zero fear against established franchises, meaning they have the character to rebound.
15. Ogden Mustangs (4-2-0-3) Ogden fought hard to secure a weekend split against Houston. After earning an overtime victory on Friday thanks to the game winning shot from Lima Sheward, they dropped a tight shootout decision on Saturday. They bring plenty of energy to the ice by generating a high volume of shots. Cleaning up their coverage in the defensive zone will help them win closer games.
