HockeyWolf Player of the Week: Bode Laylin Impact performances from the blue line power Storm to key victories

Bode Laylin delivered a statement weekend for the Tri-City Storm, earning HockeyWolf Player of the Week honors after a dominant two game stretch that showcased both his offensive upside and leadership presence.
The Storm defenseman tied all USHL blueliners in scoring for the week, recording three goals and two assists while playing a pivotal role in back to back wins. Laylin’s ability to impact the game in all situations proved to be the difference as Tri-City continues its push toward the postseason.
On Saturday, Laylin scored twice in a tightly contested 3-2 victory over Chicago, jumping into the play with confidence and finishing his opportunities when they mattered most. He followed that performance with an even bigger night in a 4-3 overtime win against the Steel. The University of St. Thomas commit tallied the game winning goal and added two assists, driving offense from the back end and controlling play in key moments.
Across the weekend, Laylin finished with four shots on goal and an impressive +5 rating, underscoring his two way effectiveness. His production was not a one off performance, either. Since the turn of the calendar year, Laylin has recorded five multi-point games, continuing to elevate his game as the schedule intensifies.

At a position where consistency and composure are critical, Laylin has provided both. Whether activating in transition, quarterbacking the attack, or shutting down opposing rushes, he has become a cornerstone piece for Tri-City.
Storm General Manager Keith Morris emphasized Laylin’s importance to the organization:
“Bode is an elite player in the USHL. He is a leader for our organization on and off the ice. His play has elevated the Storm in quest for the playoffs.”
Laylin’s blend of skill and leadership has been instrumental in the Storm’s recent success. His willingness to jump into the rush, combined with strong defensive awareness, makes him one of the most dynamic defensemen in the league. More importantly, his performance came in high pressure situations against quality opponents exactly when teams need their top players to rise.
As the playoff race tightens, Tri-City will continue to lean on Laylin’s steady presence and offensive spark from the blue line. For one standout weekend, however, he stood above the rest making him a clear choice for HockeyWolf Player of the Week.
