In a spectacular debut performance, goaltender Ajay White showcased his skill and composure under pressure by posting a 28-save shutout in Fargo Force’s 1-0 victory over the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) U-18 squad. The win, which came in overtime, was not only a statement game for the Force but also a strong introduction for White as he begins his USHL journey.
From the opening puck drop, the NTDP applied heavy offensive pressure, outshooting Fargo 12-3 in the first period alone. But White stood tall in net, weathering the early storm with poise. His calm presence between the pipes helped the Force survive two critical penalty kills, keeping the game scoreless and allowing his team to settle in.
“Ajay had a perfect first outing against NTDP, earning a shutout and an OT win,” said USHL Commissioner Glenn Hefferan. “In speaking with Coach Skinner, he’s a serious athlete with a strong work ethic and does everything that’s asked of him.”
White's performance didn’t come as a surprise to those familiar with his background. The young netminder has a strong developmental pedigree, having competed at the Tier I AAA level with the Philadelphia Junior Flyers in both the AYHL and Tier 1 Elite League. His time in those competitive circuits laid a solid foundation of high-level experience, and he continued to elevate his game during a season with the Chippewa Steel in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Now with Fargo, White is seen as a legitimate top goaltending prospect within the USHL. His ability to read plays, control rebounds, and stay composed under pressure was on full display in his shutout performance.
“He’s a legitimate top prospect and has a bright future with the USHL and beyond,” Hefferan added.
The 1-0 result also highlights the Force’s ability to compete against one of the premier developmental programs in the country. While the NTDP U-18s are known for their speed, skill, and offensive firepower, White’s clutch goaltending frustrated their top scorers and ultimately swung momentum in Fargo’s favor.
For the Force, having a reliable presence in net provides a foundation for confidence throughout the lineup. For White, this debut is a promising first step in what could be a breakout season in the USHL. If his performance against the NTDP is any indication, Fargo has found a game-changer between the pipes.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on White to see if he can maintain this elite level of play. With his proven track record, work ethic, and ability to rise to the occasion, there’s little doubt that Ajay White has the tools to become one of the USHL’s premier goaltenders and possibly make waves at the next level.
