Anchorage's Luc Bydal Named HockeyWolf Player of the Week A dominant two-game performance cements Bydal as one of the NAHL’s top offensive threats.

Luc Bydal of the Anchorage Wolverines is this week’s HockeyWolf Player of the Week after an outstanding weekend that showcased his offensive skill and consistency.

On Friday against the Wisconsin Windigo, the North Dakota native played a role in every goal. Early in the first period, he assisted on Chase Trompeter’s goal, then scored himself just 20 seconds later to give Anchorage a 2–0 lead. Wisconsin responded with three goals before the end of the second, but Bydal tied the game with a remarkable between-the-legs goal, sending it into overtime. He also scored in the shootout, though the Wolverines fell 4–3.

Saturday saw Bydal continue his strong performance. He assisted on his younger brother Rylan Bydal’s goal early in the first period, then scored his 17th goal of the season on the power play, helping Anchorage to a 4–1 win.

In his second season in the NAHL, Bydal leads the Wolverines with 29 points and tops the league with 17 goals. Over the weekend, the 6-foot-2 left winger recorded three goals, two assists, and a +3 rating.

Wolverines head coach Mike Aikens commented on Bydal’s performance:

"Luc had another great weekend having scored 5 points. He is a hockey player, he’s a rink rat who loves to compete and he loves to score goals. Luc leads the league with 17 goals, but he is also becoming a more responsible player on the defensive end of the rink. He’s been a huge part of our team's success having gotten 14 of 18 possible points. It is great to see our players get recognized for individual success, but I know that Luc is more happy the team is having success."

With his scoring ability, playmaking, and growing defensive awareness, Luc Bydal has firmly established himself as a key contributor for Anchorage this season.
