Day Two Brings More Drama at NAHL Showcase

Day two of the 2026 NAHL Showcase delivered another full slate of hockey in Blaine, Minnesota, with 13 games on Thursday.

There were tight defensive battles, overtime drama, a shootout, several high-scoring performances and a few teams making significant statements as the Showcase moved into its second day.

New Hampshire 5, Houston 2

The New Hampshire Mountain Kings opened Thursday's action with a 5-2 victory over the Houston Bulls.

Deke Davidson and Dominik White scored in the first period to give New Hampshire a 2-0 advantage.

Houston's Isaia Castron scored his first goal of the season midway through the second, but Benjamin Short and Colin Simpson answered for New Hampshire.

Romain Lellouche brought Houston within two in the third, but Aidan Patton scored with less than a minute remaining to finish the 5-2 victory. Davidson assisted on the final goal.

Minnesota Mallards 1, Odessa 0

Goaltending was the story in the Minnesota Mallards' 1-0 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Max Pitts stopped all 28 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season.

Ryan Lucarelli scored the game's only goal early in the second period, with Ty Gordon recording the assist.

Odessa pushed hard in the third period, putting 11 shots on goal, but Minnesota held on for the shutout.

New Mexico 3, St. Cloud 2

The New Mexico Ice Wolves picked up their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win over the St. Cloud Norsemen.

Conner Boulay and Koen Harold gave New Mexico a 2-0 lead before St. Cloud's Dominykas Sadauskas cut the deficit in half.

Max Stracar restored the Ice Wolves' two-goal advantage with 36 seconds remaining in the second period.

Mate Tardi scored a power-play goal for St. Cloud in the third, but New Mexico held on for the win.

Northeast 7, Kenai River 3

The Northeast Generals exploded for four third-period goals to defeat the Kenai River Brown Bears 7-3.

Filip Kinter gave Kenai River the first-period lead before Kody Moyer and Emil Szepesi put Northeast ahead in the second.

Ryan McPartland tied the game for the Brown Bears before the end of the second.

The Generals then took over in the third. Logan Poulin scored on the power play before Nate Porter, Keegan Gregory and Matthew Lacombe scored four goals in a span of four minutes.

Oliver Pietras brought Kenai within three late in the period, but Braydon Hutloff answered for Northeast in the final minute.

The victory was Northeast's fourth of the season.

New Jersey 3, El Paso 1

The New Jersey Titans defeated the El Paso Rhinos 3-1.

Hudson Slenker opened the scoring in the first period before Joshua Kitsis doubled the lead with a power-play goal in the second.

El Paso's Maxin St. Pierre scored a four-on-four goal to bring the Rhinos within one.

Kaden Julik restored New Jersey's two-goal lead with another power-play goal later in the second.

Neither team scored in the third, giving New Jersey the 3-1 victory.

Philadelphia 2, Fairbanks 1 in a shootout

The Philadelphia Rebels handed the Fairbanks Ice Dogs their first loss of the season, winning 2-1 in a shootout.

Fairbanks took the lead when Mason Knaffla scored in the second period.

Philadelphia answered on the power play through Emmet McClaine later in the period.

Neither team scored in the third or overtime, sending the game to a shootout.

Oscar Djurberg scored the deciding goal for Philadelphia.

Rebels goaltender Mathieu Raymond stopped 32 of 33 shots during regulation and overtime, while Fairbanks goaltender Alex Woller helped the Ice Dogs kill three consecutive penalties late in the first period.

Janesville 3, Maryland 2 in overtime

The undefeated Maryland Black Bears suffered their first loss of the season, falling 3-2 to the Janesville Jets in overtime.

Maryland built a 2-0 first-period lead on goals from Brayden Wade and Matthew Shpungin.

Janesville responded in the second. Hans Hedlund scored before Sean Truby tied the game.

Neither team scored in the third, sending the game to overtime.

Hedlund then scored his second goal of the night in overtime to give Janesville the victory.

Anchorage 5, Amarillo 3

The Anchorage Wolverines came from behind to defeat the Amarillo Wranglers 5-3.

Ralfs Veidemanis gave Amarillo a first-period lead with a five-on-three power-play goal.

Anchorage responded with goals from Balint Lobenwein and Harout Arutyunyan in the second period, although Truan Conrad and Hugo Råsten also scored for Amarillo during a back-and-forth middle frame.

Caleb Mahar gave Anchorage its first lead with a power-play goal.

John Scott and Jack McKenna then scored in the third to put the game away for the Wolverines.

Filip Hornáček stopped 15 shots in the third period to help preserve the 5-3 victory.

Shreveport 5, Minnesota Wilderness 3

The Shreveport Mudbugs handed the previously undefeated Minnesota Wilderness their first loss of the season, winning 5-3.

Antoine Cormier and William-Alexis Tremblay scored early for Shreveport before Jason Simons added a power-play goal late in the first.

Tremblay scored again in the second to make it 4-0.

Minnesota responded with goals from Alfred Carlsson and Frantisek Netusil before the end of the second.

Netusil scored again in the third on the power play to bring the Wilderness within one.

Shreveport held the lead, however, and Eli Shulman added an empty-net goal to seal the victory.

Corpus Christi 7, Elmira 4

The Corpus Christi IceRays remained perfect on the Showcase with a 7-4 victory over the Elmira Aviators.

Corpus Christi jumped out to a 4-0 first-period lead with goals from William Kerr, Michael Azzarone, Liam McGuern and Oliver Czaja.

Nikita Konevych and Justin Thibault extended the lead in the second before Elmira finally answered with goals from Timofei Korober and Jacob Baratta.

Adam Sebastian Kurka then scored twice early in the third to bring Elmira within two.

Konevych scored his second goal of the game to restore Corpus Christi's three-goal advantage.

Azzarone led the IceRays with three points, including one goal and two assists. Goaltender Vladislav Bryzgalov stopped 35 of 39 shots in the victory.

Johnstown 5, Oklahoma 1

The Johnstown Tomahawks picked up their first win of the season with a 5-1 victory over the Oklahoma Warriors.

Jack Genovese opened the scoring in the first period.

Johnstown then extended its lead in the second through Evan Kensey and Justin Chiras.

Oklahoma's Jackson Hone scored in the third to get the Warriors on the board, but Ethan Coots and Connor Griffin added goals for Johnstown to finish the scoring.

Kensey finished with three points, including one goal and two assists.

Johnstown goaltender Dylan Bourque stopped 28 of 29 shots for the win.

Danbury 7, Wisconsin 3

The Danbury Hat Tricks defeated the Wisconsin Windigo 7-3 behind a three-goal performance from Gus Rabe.

Jackson Arango and Rabe gave Danbury an early 2-0 lead before Wisconsin's Kaden Mote answered.

Brent Beswick restored Danbury's two-goal lead with a power-play goal before the end of the first.

Rabe scored again on the power play in the second, followed by William Cronberger.

Wisconsin's Eric Palmer scored in the third, but Rabe completed his hat trick before Aidan Hickok scored for Wisconsin.

Beswick added his second goal of the night to complete the 7-3 victory.

Rabe finished with three goals, Beswick had two goals and an assist, and Tristan Konobelj recorded three assists.

Ogden 6, Springfield 2

The Ogden Mustangs defeated the Springfield Jr. Blues 6-2.

Cooper Struckel scored twice on the power play, while Jakub Habla, Bryce Dahl, Aidan Miller and Henry Colbert also scored for Ogden.

Springfield received goals from Mason Benedict and James Marshall.

Ogden goaltender Jack Foy stopped 23 of 25 shots to earn the victory.

Struckel finished with two goals, while Dahl had a goal and an assist.

Day Two Changes the Picture

The second day of the NAHL Showcase produced several notable developments.

Philadelphia ended Fairbanks' undefeated start in a shootout. Janesville handed Maryland its first loss in overtime. Shreveport did the same to Minnesota Wilderness in regulation, while Corpus Christi continued its strong start with another high-scoring victory.

With another full slate of games still ahead, the Showcase continues to provide an early look at how the 2026-27 NAHL season may begin to take shape.
