Victorious Prospect Spotlight: Zach Hertz Yorktown Terriers' Rookie with Drive, Leadership, and a Focused Future

Last season was a significant step forward for forward Zach Hertz, who played U18 AAA for the Colorado Rampage, serving as an assistant captain. Over 58 games, Hertz tallied 8 goals, 18 assists, and 18 penalty minutes.

“Last year I played U18 AAA at the Colorado Rampage where I was an assistant captain. I played 58 games and had 8 goals, 18 assists, and 18 penalty minutes,” Hertz said. “Currently, this season, I am eight games in with two goals and two assists.”

Hertz’s career already includes some impressive milestones. “Important milestones I would like to share is our team last year won the Colorado State U18 AAA title,” he explained. “I have accomplished a milestone of making a great Tier 2 team with the Yorkton Terriers in the SJHL.”

What separates Hertz from other players is his attitude and energy. “Intangibles I have that I believe set me apart are my work ethic and the energy I bring on the ice for the team,” he said.

Hertz has matched his on-ice success with academic excellence. “I graduated with a 4.1 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society,” he shared. “I am looking to study business management.”

As for his future in hockey, Hertz is keeping his goals clear and realistic. “I see myself playing at a high-level Division III school or potentially a Division I school,” he said.

Hertz also credits his advisor for playing a key role in his development. “Working with Stephen has been great,” he said. “He has helped me accomplish my goals getting to Tier 2 hockey and helped me find a top-notch program and coach.”

From winning a state title in Colorado to earning his spot in the SJHL, Zach Hertz continues to prove himself as a player defined by hard work, consistency, and focus—both on the ice and in the classroom. With his leadership qualities, academic drive, and strong work ethic, Hertz’s future in the game looks bright.
